The Holy Spirit provided a very simplistic clarity to the ‘Wait On’ situation, He used an analogy of a restaurant, a guest, a menu and a waiter. In an ideal restaurant, you are handed a menu, a waiter is assigned to handle your every request and serves you with an intention to please you and ensure a great tip and, of course a possible return or referral.
Now picture this – God is your guest and you are the waitress/waiter. The difference here is that the menu is unknown to you (in a place of total submission to His will) and so God makes a request and you serve Him and of course you MUST give Him a great experience (no fussing, no advising or helping God).
Most times we equate waiting on God with a period of fasting but the Holy Spirit clarifies that the fasting is a key to understanding God’s ‘meal’ requests as it subdues your flesh and allow your Spirit to connect readily with God’s and brings you to a place of total submission to His will.
Yes, our God needs some waiting on this week! Remember that God loves a great meal of Praise, a delicious serving of Worship, an amazing delight of Faith-filled Prayers, a double whopper of soulful Giving and many more on His menu. And of course, what is our ‘tip?’ – Strength (Isaiah 40:31, Psalm 27:14), Inheritance (Psalm 37:9, 34), His words of encouragement, clarity of vision, Joy immeasurable etc.
