Thanksgiving 2021

thanksgiving_devotional_newsletter_01

Greetings to all in the name of Jesus, our Lord and Saviour, whose birth we celebrate this month. Don’t underestimate the power of Thanksgiving; when your heart is filled with gratitude, there is little room to worry or complain. Set aside some time to thank God and reflect on the blessings that surround you. According to Psalm 100:4, we are to “enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise; be thankful unto Him, and bless His name.” Christ himself was the perfect example of obeying this commandment.

I am calling on everyone this month to be thankful. Let’s do something interesting-I call it the # 21DayPraise Challenge

The Holy Spirit is calling me to this, and I want to share this with everyone. This is not just about songs or psalms, this is about your words and actions giving praise and thanks to our Father in Heaven. Every day and night, words, songs, and actions should praise God. Once you are about to complain about something- remember you are in a praise challenge and give God some crazy praise.

I Thessalonians 5:18 (KJV)

"In everything, give thanks, for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you."

God commands in everything to give thanks. He does this because he understands that “a cheerful disposition is good for my health” (Pro 17:22). God knows that worrying about circumstances or things would only create unpleasant health issues or concerns. He expects us to have faith in him and not waver in our belief that he is God over all.

Remember, amidst the troubles, there is always something to be thankful about. Being alive is one. Thanksgiving will draw our hearts out to God and keep us engaged with him. It will take our attention from ourselves and give the Holy Spirit room in our hearts. Amongst the many benefits of thanksgiving are:

  1. It positively affects your mental faculty and improves your reasoning- you see things clearly and through the eyes of God.
  2. It affects the glory of yourself; praise can return your lost glory.
  3. formalized Thanksgiving can attract honor and brightness to you.
  4. It creates for you a progressive path in God’s Kingdom.
  5. Giving thanks to God unlocks many doors.
  6. Whenever thanksgiving goes up, showers of blessings automatically come down-Ps 100:5.
  7. It strengthens faith, increases our reliance on God for all provision, and upholds biblical truths about God’s faithfulness.
  8. It draws us closer to God. It can cause those designed to favor you to remember you.
  9. Thanksgiving ushers you into God’s presence; it is the protocol needed to come in through the gates of thanksgiving and into His courts with praise.
